How to eat healthy during the Holiday Season 2019

People ask frequently, “how do I eat healthy during the holiday season, with all the parties and goodies/drinks available?” The answer is: easy!  Keep following the Dr. Sears’ Traffic Light Eating pattern, even during the holidays, so you won’t be tempted to overindulge and feel bloated. Try a handful of nuts instead of decadent appetizers, eat from the cut veggie tray with hummus, salsa, or a few slices of cheese, whole grain crackers, and allow time to digest before you go back for main course seconds or thirds….pace yourself! For drinks, stick with one or two (maximum) beers/wine, or seltzer with cranberry juice for a festive alternative and to lower the sugary calories. I always allow myself a dark chocolate mini dessert or fruit, and skip the mindless eating of holiday cookies on the cookie tray.
