Health Coaches often are asked, “what are the most unhealthy habits and how do I fix them to live a better life?” These are some of the top bad habits you can correct for your health:
*Drinking alcoholic drinks (several) every evening and right before bed.* How to fix it? Try and limit ONE wine, beer, or hard liquor and have it with your evening meal. Excessive alcohol also inhibits sleep patterns, metabolism, and weight loss.
*Vaping e-cigarettes.* How to fix it? If you smoke or vape, there are several programs available for steps to quit. Smoking increases your risk of lung, esophageal, face, and heart disease and cancer. If you never smoked, don’t start to vape, the chemicals in e-cigarettes are toxic and the nicotine levels are much higher than in regular cigarettes.
*Eating “fat free” and other packaged/processed foods.* How to fix it? Eat the “good” fats instead, that are found in avocados, nuts, seeds, fish, and olive oil. We need the “good” fats in our diets for brain development, hydrated skin/hair, and joint lubrication. Fat free and packaged/processed foods might not be the best option for you to snack on, make a better choice such as air popped popcorn, veggies and salsa/hummus, and fresh fruits-(unlimited, as this will curve the junk food cravings and mindless eating).
*Portion control and eating late at night.* How to fix it? Use smaller plates for visual effect as well as smaller portions, don’t eat late at night, that’s a surefire way to gain unsightly pounds. Drink a lot of water, sometimes you’re not hungry, you’re thirsty! “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper” is an old adage that works!
